Random Thoughts: Part 1

As I alluded in the main image- I have something to say about Swedish hummus. The Swedes seem to be a generally intelligent population, but they cannot seem to figure out this whole hummus thing. I have tried one hummus container that must have been literally just blended chick peas (so bland) and another that had decent flavor but a very weird texture (waterlogged chick peas?). Time to start a quest for a new go-to snack food because this one is not quite working out.
There are free apples EVERYWHERE! Sweden has a well-loved law called the ‘right of public access’ that says that everyone can go anywhere they want, even private property, without fear of trespassing. While there are limits to this rule in regards to invading on people’s privacy in the direct vicinity of their homes, the law really means that all people are free to explore nature anywhere they want. The law also means that if you happen across an apple tree, you can have as many apples as you want. And there are apple trees everywhere! I have had so many apples that it is not even funny. Cassie and I have even made a traditional Swedish apple cake and have some hard apple cider fermenting in the cabinet!
Interior design features a LOT of white. Everything is simple, functional, and minimal. Cassie captured it perfectly when she walks into any building build within the last 2 centuries and asks, “Is this an Ikea?”
McDonald’s has sweet potato fries here. America is missing out.
Sidewalks are a much more fluid concept here. With so many people getting around by bike, walking on the sidewalk still feels like a game of Frogger. It is a miracle I haven’t been hit by a bike yet.
Not to get to graphic with this last one, but it is impossible to have a quiet poop here. Something about the shape of the bowls means that there is just too far between my rear end and the water and there are big splashes.
